こんにちは！トロイ・サイスターです。もともとはニューヨーク州の出身ですが、高校卒業後カナダのブリティッシュコロンビアのバンクーバーで７年間過ごしました。バンクーバーではいろんな仕事をしましたが、写真の学校にも行きました。バンクーバーは私がこれまでに行ったどこより美しく、みなさんにぜひ訪れてほしい町です。それに驚くかもしれませんが、今まで食べた一番おいしい日本食はなんとバンクーバーだったんですよ！それからニューヨークの家族のもとに戻ったものの、これといって人生で何をするかはまだわからない私でしたが、大学へ行き人類学を専攻しました。在学中に福岡の西南学院へ留学する機会がありました。そのとき日本の文化を学ぶ事ができただけでなく、「もっと日本にいたい！」と思いました。1年半前に日本にもどり、三重県で英語を教え始めました。しかし日本にもどって来てはみたものの、何か寂しい気がしていました．そうです！だって私は九州にいなかったからです。そして最近になってエスタミネーでの職を得る事ができ、九州にもどってくることができました。ここに来れたことは大変ラッキーだったと思っています。みなさんにお会いして一緒に英語の勉強をすることをとても楽しみにしています。
英語を学ぶ一番の方法とは？いろんな方法があります。もちろんネイティブスピーカーと話すことはとってもいい方法ですが、日本では必ずしも簡単にできることではありません。しかしここエスタミネーではフレンドリーな講師たちとリラックスした環境で英語を学ぶ事ができます。それから、間違えることを心配しないで、英語を楽しんでください。今私は日本語を勉強していますが、毎日山のように間違えます。でもその間違いを通して上達していってます。最後にアドバイスをもうひとつ。毎日勉強することです。みなさん忙しい日々を送っていらっしゃるでしょうが、本当に英語を上達したいのなら、英語を勉強するということを一日の日課に入れてしまうことです。だれでも一日に１０分は勉強する時間を作ることができるでしょう。１０分という時間は短く思えますが、それが積み重なることであなたの聞いたり話したりする英語力も増していきますよ。
My name is Troy and I am originally from New York state. After high school I moved to Vancouver British Columbia were I lived for seven years. While in Vancouver I had various odd jobs and I also attended photography school. Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to and I highly recommend traveling there. It also has some of the best Japanese food I have ever eaten! After seven years I returned to New York to be closer to my family. Still not sure with what I wanted to do in life, I enrolled in university and obtained a degree in anthropology. While at university I had the opportunity to study for one year at Seinan Gakuin University in Fukuoka. At Seinan I studied various topics, all of which pertained to Japan. Not only did I learn a lot about Japan but I also realized I wanted to spend more time in Japan.
About a year and a half ago I returned to Japan and began teaching English in Mie-Ken. Although I liked being back, something was missing, I wasn’t in Kyushu! Recently my wish to live in Kyushu came true when I was offered a job here at Estaminet. I feel very lucky to be here and I really look forward to getting to know students and working together learning English.
What is the best way to Learn English? Well there are a number of things you can do. Of course conversing with native speakers is a great way. I know this can be difficult in Japan, but here at Estaminet you have the chance to do just that, in a relaxing environment with friendly teachers. Also, have fun with English and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. I’m trying to learn Japanese at the moment and I make tons of mistakes, but through my mistakes I have learned a great deal. One last word of advice, study everyday. I know most people have busy lives, but if you really want to learn English you need to keep it part of your daily life. Everyone has at least ten minutes a day they can study. I know that may not seem like much but over time those minutes add up and so will you ability to speak and understand English.
